One of the first fruits cultivated by men, figs originate from Asia and Mediterranean region; however, nowadays they are cultivated in many countries with warm climate.
The shape of fig fruits resembles small onions with thin peel. Ripe figs are green or purple and green. They have soft and sweet pulp.
Fresh figs contain plenty of sugar, protein, vitamins A,B1, B2 and C as well as fibre.
Fresh figs can be consumed as a whole and are used to make preserves, jams and compotes.
