An oval berry up to 12 cm long, covered with hard, orange peel, with edible, jelly-like pulp with dark pits. Granadillas grow in mountain areas of South America, Peru, Columbia and Venezuela.
The fruit is a valuable source of antioxidants, vitamins A, C, E and K and minerals: iron, manganese and potassium.
Its consumption supports blood circulation, reduces hypertension and cholesterol level.
Best consumed raw. Served as a condiment in cocktails or desserts.
