A fruit of tamarind tree. It originates from Africa but now it is grown mostly in Southeastern Asia and India. It has a form of pods. Hard shell covers dark seeds covered with sticky pulp.
Tamarind has a sweet and sour fruity taste. It is a valuable source of essential minerals and vitamins, such as: fibre, iron and vitamin B.
Tamarind is used primarily as a spice in various dishes and sauces.
