Nectarine is a variety of peach (Prunus persica) differing from it primarily with a smooth peel surface. Nectarine fruits have juicy and aromatic pulp (of yellow or orange colour) that is relatively easily separated from the pit.
Nectarine requires a mild climate. Its largest cultivation areas are located in France, Italy, Spain, Greece, United States, Chile and South Africa.
Nectarines are a valuable source of vitamin A (beta-carotene), B3, B5, C, E, phosphorus, potassium and copper. Nectarine consumption has a positive effect on proper functioning of the human body.
Nutrients contained in these fruits stimulate the immune system, remove toxins from the organism, eliminate stress and tiredness, boost energy, improve skin, hair and nails condition, strengthen the heart and support vision.
Nectarines can be consumed as a snack and added to fruit salads, ice-cream, puddings, jellies, cakes, smoothies and used for jam, marmalade and sweet sauce production. They can be also added to salads, e.g. with meat, cheese or nuts.
