Paraguayo is a type of peach commonly named UFO because of its atypical flattened shape. It originates from China and has been currently cultivated also in the US, Mexico, Argentina, Spain and France.
As in the case of all peaches, Paraguayo is also reach in vitamins and minerals: A, C, E, K, potassium and boron. As a valuable source of calcium, iron and magnesium, it is recommended to persons with anaemia, pregnant women and vegetarians.
High content of fibre ensures proper functioning of intestines. Paraguayos, even consumed in high amounts, cause no digestive disturbances and therefore are particularly recommended to children and the elderly. It is goof to eat them with their peel, which accumulates the greatest amount of nutrients.
Paraguayo is usually consumed raw. Dried fruits are added to cornflakes or salads. They are also perfect to prepare delicious desserts, refreshing cocktails and ice teas, as well as preserves: jams, compotes, juices, fruit cordials and jellies.
