It has green and thick peel that becomes yellow as the fruit ripens. Pulp is juicy and sweet. Before consumption, one needs to remove a bitter layer covering the pulp.
It contains 25% more antioxidants, polyphenols, flavonoids and certain fibre fractions comparing to a common grapefruit. In addition, polyphenols belong to the most effective natural substances reducing “bad” LDL cholesterol, have an antiatherogenic effect and prevent coronary arterial diseases. Sweetie is also rich in vitamins B, E and C.
It is best when consumed raw, which makes it a great idea for a healthy and light snack during the day. A perfect ingredient of fruit salads combined with the other citrus fruits, including with red grapefruit. Can be also used to prepare desserts.
