Aubergine, also called eggplant or brinjal, is a plant originating from Africa, Arabia and India. It is commonly cultivated in tropical and subtropical climate zones. In colder locations, among others in Poland, it is cultivated under glass.
Aubergine contains plenty of mineral salts: phosphorus, potassium, calcium as well as plenty of carbohydrates, including sugars, and small amounts of vitamins.
Aubergines are very popular in Mediterranean cuisine. It is consumed baked, fried, grilled or cooked with various additives.
