Sweet potato or sweetpotato is a perennial species originating from Central and South America. An edible part of sweet potato is its underground part i.e. tuber. Its weight can reach even 3 kg.
Sweet potato tubers are long and have a specific cone-like shape. There are more than 400 sweet potato varieties that differ from each other with peel colour and pulp.
Peel can be brown, purple, red, beige, orange and yellow, while pulp can have white, beige, grey, pink, purple, yellow and orange colour.
Sweet potatoes are a valuable source of B and A group vitamins.
Sweet potatoes are consumed baked or cooked. They can be also fried in a form of French fries.
